Training network and technology transfer
The lack of qualified human resources at all levels including manual workers, technicians and managers is currently one of the major challenges that the Vietnamese woodworking industry is facing. Currently there are a few vocational training centres and universities which are specialized in wood technology. However, there is still a lack of advanced equipment and professional teaching skills.
With the aim of meeting specific training needs in each professional field a modular training programme will be developed with participating institutions. The project will cooperate with the VocTech Programme to implement training of trainers (ToT) in technical issues, making a great effort to reduce the gap between the industry and vocational schools in terms of the competencies of teachers (technical/practical skills and understanding of the industry’s needs). The project will also cooperate with the “Vietnam Forestry Trade Network” (VFTN) established by WWF in accordance with the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) to promote links between suppliers and buyer groups aiming to increase the use of certified timber.
